Learning takes you from who you were…

…to who you are.

Who you will become…

…is entirely up to you.

Portfolio Purpose

I have a Bachelor’s Degree and a diverse work experience in Education, but I’ve never ‘formally’ studied the field of Instructional Design. In an effort to add ‘professional’ to my ‘ism’ in learning, I decided to take this EdX Instructional Design and Technology: Learning Theories course. My goal is to complete the entire Micro Master’s program. This website will serve as a portfolio of my journey.

Me, so far…

I’m one of those ‘Life-Long Learner’ types, and a Gemini. Therefore, writing a bio is a huge challenge for me. I currently work as a sub contractor writing content for a variety of eLearning lessons primarily for high school students. I also work as Content Developer (fancy for: ‘I write the scripts’) for Noor Kids. I have worked for years in Learning as a teacher, a coordinator of teachers, a curriculum designer, and a Learning Coach to my children. I volunteer teach at our community mosque and this year I will train teachers in a new Tarbiiya Curriculum released by MCE, the Madresah Center of Excellence. This will mark my first official shift from behind the scenes content development to out in the front training. (I’ll let you know how that turns out.) I’m excited to stretch my limits, but I still prefer playing with words to influence change in thought and action.

Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn.
